The Smith Legacy Continues In Independence Day 2

Almost two years have passed since we found out that the patriotic “Independence Day” is set for a sequel. Add to that the fact that the protagonist of the sequel was said to be none other than the stepson of Will Smith’s character from the original flick, and you have yourself one highly anticipated movie.

However, in the recent turn of events, we found out that Will Smith will have a much greater impact on “Independence Day 2.”

Even though he probably won’t appear in the movie, it was recently revealed that the central character of the sequel is going to be played by Smith’s real-life son, Jessie Usher.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jessie Usher has officially signed on to take part in “Independence Day 2.”

The star of “Survivor’s Remorse” is, according to most of the fans of the original alien-invasion movie, a much better choice than the previously rumored Liam Hemsworth.

We can’t say that Usher has no big screen experience so far. His latest performance can be seen in “When The Game Stands Tall,” while his previous works include “Without A Trace, “The Mentalist,” and “Level Up.”

“Independence Day 2” will feature the reappearance of Jeff Goldblum and Bill Pullman, and we expect Jessie Usher to be a fine addition to this already impressive cast. Here’s hoping Will Smith’s son finds his way during an alien invasion 20 years after the original movie.
