Hollywood has seen many movies come and go. Some were great and memorable while others left an awful aftertaste in our minds.

But in some cases, awesome movies go unnoticed and fall into oblivion for reasons unknown.

Tom Cruise’s “Jack Reacher” was about to become one of those movies.

The 2012 action-packed car chase flick brought joy to many of us, but ultimately ended up as being underrated. However, reports suggest that this movie is yet to end its reign on the big screen.

According to Variety, Ed Zwick and Marshall Herskovitz have been hired by Paramount and Skydance in order to write the script for “Jack Reacher 2.” Zwick is also set to direct the movie.

Many will wonder why Christopher McQuarrie isn’t coming back to the director’s seat, and we understand that. It’s not that Ed Zwick is a bad director, but McQuarrie’s work is what made the original “Jack Reacher” so awesome.

The first movie was based on the Lee Child novel “One Shot,” which showed us the life and problems of Jack Reacher, a homicide investigator who chases a rogue sniper until things get really, really bad.

The sequel’s official title is yet to be revealed, but we know it will follow the story of “Never Go Back,” courtesy of Lee Child.

And to quench your disappointment about the movie’s director, we’ll just mention that Cruise and Zwick worked together on “The Last Samurai,” a movie that became a cult classic without much effort. Here’s hoping they repeat their success with “Jack Reacher 2.”
