Idris Elba Considering A Role In The Alchemist

The British superstar of acting and one of the most desirable men on the planet, Idris Elba, is reportedly in talk for a role in The Alchemist. If that name sounds familiar to you, it’s probably because the movie is an adaptation of Paolo Coelho’s complex 20-year-old spiritual book. The flick is being done by The Weinstein Company, who are currently in hot negotiations with the famed A-lister.

There are also rumors that the feature film will be directed by famed actor and director Laurence Fishburne, who snagged the project back in 2003.

Originally, the project was supposed to be done under Warner Bros.’s wing, however, that’s not the case anymore.

Luckily for the cast and crew, Elba and Fishburne go way back and have a healthy professional relationship. Not that anyone expected any set drama with these two gods of film.

The story of The Alchemist follows a young shepherd in Andalucia. The shepherd has a dream about a buried reassure near the pyramids so he sets off into an adventure to pursuit the dream, thinking that the dream was a sign and that the treasure actually exists. He faces many obstacles and tries to fight the urge to give up.

In the meantime, Idris Elba is keeping himself really busy, with working on a bunch of upcoming movies, like A Hundred Streets, Beasts Of No Nation, Bastille Day, The Jungle Book, and according to various rumor sources, Star Trek: Beyond.
