Although “Charlie’s Angels” made it big on small screen as a TV show, the movie franchise was able to go only as far as two installments that didn’t exactly turn out to be action comedy masterpieces. Now, Sony is looking to start a brand new cinematic franchise with Elizabeth Banks as the new director.

The Possibly Pitch Perfect Angels

Elizabeth Banks did a great job as the director of the comedy “Pitch Perfect 2” this year, with the movie being a huge success at the box office ($285 million worldwide on a $30 million budget), so Sony studios now wants her for the new “Charlie’s Angels” franchise.

And it seems that they might just be spot on with this choice.

Banks is able to achieve that perfect blend of comedy and action, while she would also great at displaying only the best from the 3 badass female characters (we don’t know yet who is in talks for those).

Banks is currently attached to make a big screen adaptation of Victoria Aveyard’s novel “Red Queen” for Universal, while it is still unclear whether she will be reprising her directorial role in “Pitch Perfect 3”, which is now in the early stages of development.

Should she accept the offer from Sony, Banks will be a huge part of the team coming up with the newest take on the famous comedy about 3 beautiful female detectives who work for a mysterious and anonymous guy named Charlie.
Will she end up doing it? We’ll find out soon enough. Fingers crossed.
