Main-Ghostbusters-Characters-Revealed

First there were rumors. Then it was confirmed that the legendary “Ghostbusters” are looking at a reboot. And finally, we get to find out who are the main characters of this long-awaited continuation of the franchise.

As you know, it was revealed that the new Ghostbusters will feature a female-exclusive crew. After names being tossed around the barrel, we finally have the final six characters that are about to join – or return to – the world of ghosts and ghouls.

One of the two main leads in the reboot will be played by Kristen Wiig. Her character, Erin Gabler, is a professor at Columbia University, who co-wrote a book on the paranormal with a friend, only to end up teaching at a university.

The second lead role will be filled by Leslie Jones. As Abby Bergman, she’s the co-writer of the aforementioned book, but her story led her to continue working in the domain of the unexplained while finding a new partner in the process.

Abby’s new partner, Jillian, is set to be played by Kate McKinnon.

Not much was revealed about this one, but we assume she’ll be of same importance as the rest of the team.

The fourth member of the new Ghostbusters comes from Melissa McCarthy. Her Patty is supposed to be an outsider in the crew, since she’s an MTA subway employee who gets tossed into the world of the paranormal.

The last two characters came as a bit of a surprise. The main villain of the movie is set to be played by Peter Dinklage. Described as a “creepy mechanical genius,” we have no doubt that Tyrion Lannister is able to deliver what’s required.

The final character is the one we really didn’t expect. In recent years, Bill Murray occasionally expressed a lack of interest in returning to the franchise, but as we now know he’s coming back as Martin Heiss, a guy who’ll do anything to prove the Ghostbusters are a bunch of fakes.
