Paul Thomas Anderson To Write Script For Robert Downy Jr.’s Pinocchio

There was no way that the little wooden puppet boy would not get his own reboot movie! Famed actor Robert Downey Jr.’s latest project is the reboot of the famed fairy tale, and he wanted Paul Thomas Anderson for the highly coveted gig of script writer. Reports now claim that Anderson agreed to rewrite and even potentially direct the latest take on one of the most known stories of all time.

Robert and his wife/partner Susan Downey have been trying to do make the reboot happen for years, but with ho luck.

According to their plan for the project, Downy Jr. was supposed to play Geppetto, the woodcarver whose wooden puppet (and son) is granted with a gift of life.

Will Tony Stark himself stick to his long plan and pay the interesting role, remains to be seen, but it won’t be a surprise if he changes his mind, since he had been doing just that in the past few months.

Anderson was not originally supposed to pen down the script for the big screen story of the wooden boy who lied. That job was first given to a couple of other writers who had written drafts, but their scripts weren’t what Downey was looking for. Among those writers are Hannibal’s Bryan Fuller, Kick Ass’ Jane Goldman, and The Giver’s Michael Mitnick. Better luck next time, eh?

Downy and Anderson have been close friends for a couple of years, and thus this decision is somewhat logical. If you can’t do it, and no one else seems capable enough, then you should probably just ask a friend who is acknowledged in that area of work. What are friend for, after all?

This would be Anderson’s first take on a classic fairy tale, and the results will surely be interesting to see.
