Here’s What ‘Avatar 2’ Will Be About

February 20, 2017

It’s hard to believe it’s been almost 8 years since Avatar took the world of cinematography by storm and became one of the best CGI – live action combo movies thus far. Especially now, in a time when movie reboots and sequels are so frequent an occurrence in Hollywood.

But Avatar fans can finally exhale with a sigh of relief since Avatar 2 is very much in the making.

As Cinema Blend reports, director James Cameron has been spending a lot of time writing the stories and the plots for the upcoming 4 sequels (yes, Avatar will be a 5-movie-long saga), while the production will finally begin later this year.

Sam Worthington, who plays the protagonist Jake Sully, has already read the stories and he appears to be rather pleased with the upcoming plots.

Family Saga

Worthington recently spoke to We’ve Got This Covered and revealed the sequel will be focusing on Jake’s new life as a family man.

“I’ve read all the scripts, they’re great. This is going to be Jake eight years later, and he’s got a family now,” said the actor. “This film is going to be like nothing you’ve ever seen. The world is bigger than the first one, but essentially, it’s a movie about family.”

“Jake will still have that essence of a kid seeing the world for the first time, but he’s been living in the world for a while now, so what’s this world he’s seeing now for the first time? The film will explore that within this family dynamic.”

In case you’ve forgotten, at the end of Avatar Jake transferred his consciousness into the Avatar body permanently and has ever since been living with the alien race as one of their own. However, we are positive there is a plethora of new mysteries Pandora still has in store for Jake.

“Avatar 2” is scheduled to hit theaters on December 21, 2018.
