With the coming of “Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens,” fan rage about various things we can see in the movie’s trailer was soon to follow.

But the next installment of the franchise didn’t just attract the attention of the fans. Ewan McGregor, who played the Obi-Wan Kenobi in the first three episodes, also had something to say about the sequel.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, McGregor was asked about his thoughts on the “Episode VII.”

Even though his legendary Jedi character won’t be making an appearance in the movie, the actor still managed to spot some technical issues regarding the lightsaber from the trailer.

Said McGregor: “It’s got a hilt now. You don’t need a hilt. If you know how to handle a lightsaber, like we did, you don’t need a hilt. That’s just one thing that I think they might have got wrong.”

Perhaps this comment was meant as a tease toward the new crew that’s going to mark the future of “Star Wars,” but McGregor is right. Both him and Liam Neeson, who played Kenobi’s master Qui-Gon Jinn, went through extensive sword combat training with their opposing actor Ray Park.

If you look closely at the lightsaber the dark figure from the trailer is carrying, you’ll realize that this character probably won’t have the freedom of combat innovation that McGregor, Neeson, and Park had.

The British actor’s involvement in “Star Wars” certainly left a mark on the franchise, but now that he has no part in it, we can look forward to seeing his latest work, “The Last Days in the Desert.”
