If you are the fan of Tim Burton’s masterpiece from 1988 “Beetlejuice,” you probably know that earlier this year Michael Keaton fueled the rumors about the possible sequel. Now, however, it seems that Beetlejuice 2 is closer than ever.

Mutual Dependence

About a year ago, Keaton revealed that he and Burton had discussed the possibility, but emphasized that any potential sequel was highly dependent on Burton’s involvement.

“I’ve emailed Tim a couple of times, talked to the writer a couple of times, but all really, really preliminary stuff. I always said that’s the one thing I’d like to do again, if I ever did anything again. But it kind of required Tim to be involved some way or another,” said the actor earlier this year, and now it appears that Burton is ready for the whole shebang.

The director spoke for IGN and said he was ready to commit to the project as long as Keaton is on board.

There’s only one Beetlejuice, and that’s Michael. There is a script, and I would love to work with him again. I think there is now a better chance than ever… I miss that character. There’s something that’s cathartic and amazing about it. I think it’s closer than ever,” said Burton.

What about Winona Ryder?

When Burton was asked whether the leading lady would also reprise her famous role, the director was pretty clear. Several times.

Oh yeah, yeah yeah yeah. Oh yeah, oh yeah. Yeah yeah, oh yeah,” were Burton’s exact words.

Stay tuned.
