Another Disney Story Gets A Live-Action Adaptation

We can debate on whether adapting Disney’s fairy-tales to the big screen is good or bad for days on end. Maybe it’s due to the lack of new ideas Hollywood is suffering from, or perhaps it’s supposed to reignite the childish side of adults who once enjoyed these stories.

In any case, there has been a swarm of these adaptations in the past year, with movies like “Maleficent,” “Snow White and the Huntsman,” and the new “Cinderella” flick. But the spree doesn’t end there, as we now know not only that a “Beauty and the Beast” movie is in the works, but also which actors have joined the cast.

This live-action presentation of the XVIII century French tale will be directed by Bill Condon, who is best known for his work on the final two “Twilight” movies.

Now that the director is out of the way, let’s get down to the real stars of “Beauty and the Beast.”

First off, we have Emma Watson in the role of Belle, the protagonist of the story. The “Harry Potter” star seems like a perfect choice for the part, and it will give her a break from all the work she’s lately been doing for the UN.

Next up is “Downton Abbey’s” Dan Stevens as the Beast. Maybe not in beast form, but we can see Stevens portraying an arrogant prince whose only wish is to live forever.

As for the bad guy in the movie, we have Luke Evans as Gaston. This comes as a bit of surprise, since everyone was expecting Evans to keep a low profile after the box office disaster of “Dracula Untold.”

Nonetheless, we’ve seen how mean Evans can be in “Fast & Furious 6,” so we can only expect a great performance from him again.

Finally, Josh Gad is set to play the comical role of Lefou, a.k.a Gaston’s lackey. Gad has previously shown extraordinary skill in voice acting as Olaf from “Frozen,” but since this will be a live-action movie, we can’t be too sure as to whether he’ll be able to deliver what’s expected of him.
