With “The LEGO Movie” being welcomed as a really good tribute to our favorite childhood toys, it’s only logical to expect its sequel to be just as good.

However, with Phil Lord and Chris Miller out of the picture as the sequel’s writer/directors, the hunt for a new of the helm of “The LEGO Movie 2” has been on for some time.

And according to Deadline, the sequel found its new director in Rob Schrab. He’s a fairly new name in the world of Hollywood directing, and he’ll be making his directorial debut with “The LEGO Movie 2.”

Schrab’s previous endeavors include “Parks and Recreation,” “Workaholics,” and “Community,” which were all rather successful TV series, so you can expect him not to fail with the second big screen installment of the LEGO franchise.

As for Phil Lord and Chris Miller, they had nothing but praise for “The LEGO Movie 2’s” choice of director. Said the duo: “We are so excited to collaborate with Rob. He is a comedy genius, a visual savant, and we have been stalking him for years.”

“No one works harder than Rob, and his aesthetic, combined with his sense of humor, bring a strong, unique, thoughtful, and passionately nerdy voice to this project. People who know him are slapping their foreheads today and saying, ‘Of course!’”

We can bet you were one of those forehead-slapping people, because we know we should have expected a talent like Rob Schrab to join the sequel of one of the best animated movies in recent years.
