3. Imposed Sense Of Darkness

Pizzolatto managed to master the whole dark atmosphere (or should we say psychosphere) and tortured character thing during the first season, so the director decided to go with it this time around as well.

And that would have been perfectly fine, had he done it properly.

This time he tried to go even deeper into this dark cave, however, he failed to realize that somewhere along the way he simply lost it.

The sense of darkness, suffering and the tortured minds become artificial and at times even ridiculously funny.

Pizzolatto made this show on particular atmosphere and on complicated and dark characters, but all that just feels forced in season 2.
