25 Worst Movies Ever

17. Disaster Movie (2008)

“Scary Movie” arguably brought to the mainstream a particularly depressing trend in cinema.

It showed that Hollywood could make money cranking out movies entirely based on stealing from other movies.

Okay, it was funny once (sort of). But as directors kept reaching deeper into the barrel, movie-goers were treated to a series of progressively more awful “spoof movies.”

“Disaster Movie” holds the distinction of being among the worst in the genre. From the opening anachronism of a saber-toothed Amy Winehouse checking Facebook in 10,001 B.C., it’s apparent to all but the most brain-dead movie-goers that this film is a complete waste of time.

Throw in references to “Beowulf,” “Sex and the City, “Juno,” and the “Indiana Jones” series, and you have a solid foundation for nearly an hour and a half of tepid jokes and irreversible boredom. Even the promise of Hannah Montana getting crushed by a meteor isn’t enough to make this film worth watching.

The dismal reviews of this film should have been enough to convince Hollywood to stop making these horrible movies. If you just can’t get enough of pop culture references and scenes entirely recreated from other movies, though, you’ll get exactly what you deserve when you sit through this testament to human mediocrity.
