4. Hugo (2011)

Who would have thought that Martin Scorsese would end up on a list like this? But he did, thanks to a wonderful film Hugo.

Hugo was released in 2011 and faced The Muppets and Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 1 at the box office, which proved to be too tough to beat.

The film cost $170 million to make and it banked a mere $74 million, which must have been a major disappointment for everyone.

The truth is, Hugo is a beautiful fairy-tale-like film that features some state of the art effects, with the 3D improving the storytelling, for a change, and a heartwarming plot about a boy who lives in the Gare Montparnasse train station in Paris. It isn’t an action-packed film like some of other Scorsese’s pictures but it certainly deserved better.
