20 TV Shows That Were Cancelled Too Early

Dead-like-me

3. Dead Like Me

This quirky show involves a group of “Reapers,” dead people who help other souls pass over to the other side.

What could have been dreary and depressing was made light and amusing by the expert cast including Mandy Patinkin, Jasmine Guy, and Callum Blue.

From the main character dying after being hit by a toilet seat falling from the Mir space station to the frustrating results of death taking a holiday, the two seasons this show existed were a great beginning.

Unfortunately this was not enough to get the show picked up for a third season. The storyline follows 18 year old George who is killed by the wayward toilet seat leaving behind her parents and younger sister. George’s mother tries to hide her depression from the rest of the family whilst her father seeks solace in the arms of another woman.

George soon makes friends with a number of other reapers including Rube who is the head of the reapers and in charge of handing out the latest assignments. The show experienced problems early on when creator Brian Fuller left after just five episodes. Citing creative differences, Fuller claimed the show was “the worst experience of my life” and many believe his departure contributed to the show’s demise.
