In this Martin Scorsese directed masterpiece, young Robert De Niro stars as the Italian American boxer we all know as Jake LaMotta.

The movie deals with his destructive rage and animalistic appetite which gradually bring him and his family to demise.

It has gone on to win two Academy Awards out of no less than eight nominations.

In 1941, the boxing career of Jake LaMotta was on the rise. Aggressive and unstoppable in the ring, LaMotta treated his family and friends the same way. This caused a lot of personal drama for LaMotta, who fights with everyone in his life.

He is a suspicious man, and LaMotta becomes convinced that his wife has cheated on him. To get him mad, his wife tells him that she has slept with the whole neighborhood, including his brother. This leads to fighting, rage and LaMotta taking his anger out on anyone he can find. He decides to retire, and this is when his wife Vickie tells him she is leaving and wants a divorce.

Jake is soon arrested for introducing under aged girls to men and he serves jail time instead of paying a bribe. While he is in jail, Jake pounds the wall of his cell, crying about his misfortune and where he life could have gone.
