20 Iconic Movie Scenes That Nearly Killed Their Stars

9. Gunnar Hanson: Texas Chainsaw Massacre

The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie, the one from 1974, was a very obscure, vile, low-budget movie, but is probably still the best one from the franchise ever made.

All the later spin-offs followed the notorious trend and never reached the authenticity and rawness of the original.

In fact, the budget for the movie was no higher than $300,000, which means the safety measures on set probably weren’t on the desired level.

Some rumors say that the famous scene from the beginning in which this crazy person slashes himself with a razor actually happened, and that the blood is completely real. But this isn’t the worst part yet.

Probably the most insane fact related to this bizarre movie is that they used a real running chainsaw in all the scenes throughout the movie. Even in the one where the actor is handling the running chainsaw while wearing the mask through which he wasn’t able to see anything, but he still holds the chainsaw just centimeters from the lead actress’s face.

However, the real massacre could’ve happened at the end of the filming. Namely, in the scene where Leatherface is running with the chainsaw, Hansen, the actor playing the Leatherface, slipped in the mud and sent the chainsaw flying high into the air. Hansen fell down and moments later the still-running power tool landed insanely close to his head.

Who knew the filming of this classic could’ve been even more violent than the movie itself.
