2. Black Hawk Down – Civilian in the Humvee

As the convoy is heading back to Pakistan Stadium in “Black Hawk Down”, the shot cuts to the Humvee making a brief stop as it allows a man with a child to walk across the street.

The next shot is of the Humvee moving again. It clearly shows a white-shirted crew member sitting in the Humvee even though the men who got into the vehicle were wearing fatigues.

Despite looking like a civilian hostage, the extra passenger was actually just a crew member who forgot to duck down before filming started.

“Black Hawk Down” tells the story of the Battle of Mogadishu which was fought in Somali during the attempt to capture warlord Mohamed Farrah Aidid. The film was a box office success and was widely praised by both critics and movie fans.

However, Somalia was less impressed with how the film depicted their government and its people and called for a boycott of the Hollywood production. They claimed that the actors chosen to play Somalia nationals did not resemble the Somali people physically and spoke with a different dialect.

Despite the controversy, the movie went on to win two Oscars, an NBR award and two Golden Reel awards.
