19. Gremlins – Crew Behind Christmas Tree

The makers of “Gremlins” can be excused for the fairly basic special effects as the movie was produced in 1984.

CGI wasn’t developed at the time, and the creatures were puppets and animatronics.

Members of the crew make several appearances in “Gremlins.” In the scene where the Mum is attacked by a gremlin hiding in the Christmas tree a man in a red shirt is clearly visible pushing the tree over.

Wires and puppeteer’s hands also make regular appearances in “Gremlins.” There’s often so much action and noise that you can only spot these mistakes if you’re watching closely. Some critics at the time thought the movie was unsuitable for younger audiences, and it certainly had its share of scares.

The sequel, “Gremlins 2,” failed to win over audiences or make enough money at the box office. Many felt it was rushed and didn’t develop the ideas from the first film as it should have done.

There’s been talk of a “Gremlins” reboot for several years now. Many feel the original is a classic and that it should be left alone, but some fans of the movie would like to see a new version with modern CGI and special effects.
