With the new trailer out in the open, the long-awaited “Jurassic Park” sequel got a fairly positive reaction among its fans. The only question that they have is, “Why would they put a genetically mutated hybrid dinosaur as the main villain of the movie?”

That’s where Colin Trevorrow came in. The co-writer and director of “Jurassic World” had a few things to say about that in an interview with Empire Magazine.

Said director: “There is no shortage of awesome dinosaurs. We could have populated this entire story with new species that haven’t been in any of these movies. But this new creation is what gave me a reason to tell another Jurassic Park story.”

“We have the most awe-inspiring creatures to ever walk the Earth right in front of us, but for some reason that’s not enough. We’re always hungry for the next thing, and those who profit from it are always looking to feed that hunger. The focus groups want something bigger than a T-Rex. And that’s what they get.”

In the new movie, T-Rex, the franchise’s icon, is being replaced by the so-called D-Rex, a new breed of dinosaur cooked up in a lab. Many fans have debated among what type of these ancient beasts could be the main antagonist of the new dino-flick, yet there wished were left unfulfilled.

Nonetheless, “Jurassic World” looks promising so far. With its CGI and casting crew, there is little chance to fail. The movie stars Chris Pratt, Judy Greer, and Ty Simpkins, and will arrive in cinemas on June 12, 2015.
