2. The Sixth Sense

Haley Joel Osment plays a decidedly creepy kid in this film and he “sees dead things.” Anyone who has seen the film understands its inherent shock value and creep factor.

The film brilliantly cast this kid to play an inherently creepy part. While he doesn’t run around murdering people, he does have a supernatural gift that allows him to see and converse with dead people.

His ability makes him a social outcast among the living, but thanks to a helpful counselor who begins to believe in and understand the strange ability, he is able to grow comfortable with his unique gift.

Osment is still pretty creepy and provides an amazing performance in this smash hit that was released in 1999. Directed by M. Night Shyamalan, the film also stars Bruce Willis who plays the child’s doctor with the rare ability to counsel and help him.

Toni Collette plays the kid’s mother. All in all, this is a great psychological film that will leave you scratching your head until the very end. Irony is the cornerstone of this strange film that is also strangely satisfying. If you’re looking for a scary film that goes beyond the smash and slash variety, this film is a definite must-see.
