When the “Pirates Of The Caribbean” original trilogy finished, the franchise continued with 2011’s “On Stranger Tides” in which only Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush reprised their roles from the earlier installments, making it more of a remake.

Now, however, it appears that the upcoming fourth sequel “Dead Men Tell No Tales” may just change the course as Orlando Bloom revealed he might be returning to the franchise.

Re-booting The Franchise

Namely, Bloom was on his publicity endeavors for “The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies,” and the actor spilled some interesting beans to IGN.

“I’m not entirely sure that I’ll be back just yet, but there are talks. Basically they want to reboot the whole franchise, I think, and do something with me and the relationship with my son. I’m, of course, Davy Jones now, so I’m down at the bottom of the ocean. It might be kind of fun to do something where I’m rumbling round the bottom of the ocean, because I won’t look anything like me. Get all gnarly,” the actor stated.

Other Details

“Dead Men Tell No Tales” will be directed by Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg, while the screenplay has been penned by Jeff Nathanson, who left his mark via “Tower Heist” and “Indiana Jones – The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull.”

Johnny Depp will, of course, resuscitate the beloved Captain Jack, while Brenton Thwaites and Geoffrey Rush are rumored to still be part of the crew.

As for the new villain, Christoph Waltz and Javier Bardem have been apparently both been contacted to play the evil ghost pirate Captain Brand.

Release date is set for July 7, 2017.
