Whether in book or movie form, the world-wide phenomenon known as “Harry Potter” has a pretty formidable fanbase, which got boiling hot after the franchise’s spin-off “Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them” was announced.

But before production starts, casting needs to be done, and that’s where our Oscar-winning hero Eddie Redmayne comes in, as rumors about him joining this fantasy movie are circling the internet.

As Variety reports, Redmayne is currently the favorite for the lead role in the fantasy spin-off.

The part of magiczoologist and textbook writer Newt Scamander is sought by many actors still, as the movie’s director David Yates seems unwilling to make a final decision just yet.

The star of “Jupiter Ascending” and “Les Miserables” Eddie Redmayne would be a perfect choice of the part of Scamander to anyone who read the J.K. Rowling books.

The young actor is very good at his job, and the Academy Award, Golden Globe, and BAFTA awards for “The Theory of Everything” are just there to prove it.

The plot of “Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them” takes us about seventy years prior to the events in the “Harry Potter” series, to a time when Newt Scamander was a strapping lad set out to observe and collect any information on various fantastic beings.

According to reports, Redmayne’s main competitors are “Doctor Who’s” Matt Smith, as well as Nicholas Hoult. We’ll have to wait a bit to find out who gets to play the part of the famous Scamander, but we cross our fingers in hopes that the brilliant Eddie Redmayne makes the final cut.
