Production company Escape Artists has big plans for developing a biopic about Lucille Désirée Ball, one of the most iconic actresses, comediennes and TV producers of the previous century.

Aaron Sorkin is in talks as a writer, while the company is looking to tackle Cate Blanchett to star as Lucille Ball.

However, The Hollywood Reporter states that Sorkin hasn’t yet officially signed the contract, but this is indeed a tempting offer for him as a writer so he could demonstrate his ability to write excellent female characters, especially after he received some seriously harsh criticisms for “The Social Network” and “The Newsroom”.

Lucy

The famous actress was known for her roles in TV shows “I Love Lucy”, “The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour”, “The Lucy Show”, “Here’s Lucy” and “Life With Lucy”.

Aside from her success as a comedienne and actress, Lucy was also the first lady to own a studio.

Desilu Productions was the name, and her studio is responsible for a little franchise called “Star Trek””.

Lucy is often described as warm, smart and quite witty, and it was about time somebody made a biopic about this TV icon.

Cate Blanchett currently has several projects on her plate: “Carol”, “Truth”, “Manifesto”, “Jungle Book: Origins”, and should soon be lending her voice to Valka character in the upcoming “How to Train Your Dragon 3”.

Let’s just hope she finds the time for Lucy.
